Concrete Supervisor

Career Overview:

As an Industrial Concrete Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to concrete construction on oil and gas projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that concrete structures are built to specifications, on time, and within budget. You will oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of concrete work, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities:

1. **Project Planning and Coordination:**

  • Develop detailed plans and schedules for concrete activities based on project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of concrete construction phases.
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine the most efficient construction methods, materials, and equipment.

2. **Supervision and Leadership:**

  • Lead and supervise a team of concrete foremen, operators, and laborers.
  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.

3. **Quality Assurance and Control:**

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure that concrete work meets project specifications and industry standards.
  • Monitor concrete mix designs, placement techniques, curing processes, and finishing methods to achieve desired results.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.

4. **Safety and Compliance:**

  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety on site, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, and implement preventive measures to improve safety performance.

5. **Cost Management:**

  • Monitor concrete material usage, equipment utilization, and labor productivity to control costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality standards.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and ensure they align with work performed.

6. **Communication and Documentation:**

  • Maintain open and clear communication with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare daily reports, progress updates, and other documentation as required.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide updates on concrete construction activities and address any issues or concerns.

Qualifications

**Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

**Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in industrial projects, particularly within the oil and gas sector, is highly desirable.

  • Strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Thorough understanding of concrete construction techniques and materials.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software and tools.

*Working Conditions:**

  • This position requires working on-site at construction locations, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and hazards typical of construction sites.
  • Travel to project sites and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50.00-$55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 90 per week
